| Narva Castle is one of the oldest and biggest castles in Estonia. It was built by Danes during the 13 - 17 centuries. During the German occupation the castle became a symbol of defence for the entire eastern border of Europe. The castle lost its meaning after the North War in the 18th century, when the Russian armies took over the city. Currently one of the oldest museums in Estonia is located there. |
